Essentials

There will be a few things that every student will need. For those in grade school, they will be provided with the tools needed. In higher education, the student will be responsible for acquiring the things they will need. With that said, these items will be important for every student at hand. There will be consumable such as stylus tips, and SD cards. These items will be sold in the school’s store at cost. Also, if the student will need to replace their essentials, this too will be sold in the school store. The reasoning for this is to assure the student has everything they will need no matter what level of education they will be in.

The student will be required to have a backpack. This backpack will have 5 zippered pockets with the back pocket having 4 pouches. The back pocket will have the three pouches. One pouch will be for the computer. Another pouch will be for the eBook reader, and another for the eBook tablet. The next pocket should be sufficient for carrying other resources such as a school lunch if the student chooses to not eat the school lunch. All students in grade school will be given breakfast and lunch for free no matter the ability to pay. In front of that pocket, there will be another pocket to hold things such as pens, cards (such as student ID), and other small items. There will also be 2 side pockets with one of them being sufficient to hold a 1 liter bottle of water. The pocket is on both sides of the backpack to support the preference of the student. The other pocket can be used for any other related size item. The backpack will be essential for carrying everything.

The back pocket will hold a pouch for the computer. Since finding an ideal system with the current market is nearly impossible, there will be a company financed by the Kaldan government to make a computer manufacturer. This manufacturer will have a dedicated notebook design for the educational industry. This notebook will be standard for all of the students and faculty. The student or faculty can choose to buy another computer, but the one provided by KCI will meet the needs.

As well in the back pocket, there will be a pouch for an eBook Reader, and an eBook tablet. The reason for both is the student can use the reader to read the book, and use the tablet to write notes. If they think they will be writing the notes directly on the eBook, then they can choose to just use the tablet. This might sound like a waste of resources, but the goal is to provide the best experience for the students to help them succeed. They will in reality be the future of the nation, and should be given every opportunity to have an equal playing field as far as education goes. The idea is to create students that will excel in the education system, and therefore be a competitive market force in their own right.

All students will get a laptop computer, eBook reader, eBook tablet, and PDA. These are all essential tools for interacting with the school. The computer will be essential for composing documents, creating spreadsheets, and creating presentations. This simply can not be done effectively on a PDA, and the eBook devices aren’t intended for composing .odf files which is the standard for the nation as Libre Office is available with almost all computer OSes. The eBook reader will allow the student to read, and the tablet to write. The reader is essential for learning as the eBooks that the students will need will download to them. The tablet will have a Notebook app which will allow the student to replace the old standard of paper notebooks that will have to be bought regularly, especially for a student going to school. Low income households will have a hard time affording these items especially if there are multiple children in the household. WHile it may take some getting used to, this will be a better option than the old fashion paper/pen option.

Accessories will also be provided. This will include an eject tool (such as what you might find for a phone), an SD Card adapter in case the student needs to import their files on a micro-SD to computer, and last a water bottle. The water bottle is the one to get the most attention as students will need to be able to consume water while at school. The SD card adapter will allow micro-SD cards to insert into the adapter, and the computer will simply see it as a regular SD card. Last, the eject tool is required for ejecting the micro-SD card tray from the device if the student was to need to do so. This may not be a requirement as the student will be able to plug directly into the computer, and transfer files that way.
