A color eBook reader will be essential for the education needs of the student. This will allow the student to use the reader to read their eBook, and use the tablet to write notes, or content. All of the school’s educational books will be provided by the school through their own eBook library. Every student will log into their school account, and the appropriate .klib eBooks will download to their reader. The eBooks provided will be that for the entire school year even if the eBook will not be used until later in the school year.
A definite must is the eBook reader for the students must be color eInk. In addition, the student will receive a 32GB micro-SD card for storing eBooks. This will be essential for their education, and 32GB is the smallest sold these days. This is because color will be important to depict an accurate prevue of the content. A student learning about the heart for example will have a hard time deciding which are arteries, and which are veins if the reader was in grayscale. The eBook will be the same for the tablet, and reader. And by having a quality reader will allow for the reader to hopefully last the entire school term (12+ years for grade school), and by providing a quality device early on will assure that the student has everything they will need.
Rationale
The eBook reader as with the tablet is an eInk device. They can last weeks on a single battery charge even with regular usage. I would assume the owner will have to charge their devices on a Saturday night, and start using it on Sunday morning. The reader has a smaller screen, smaller OS demands, and the lack of stylus support will give it an edge when it comes to battery use. As mentioned, the eBook reader can work alongside with the eBook tablet to increase the productivity of the student.
